Shane (Jack Schaefer)

Comments By: Anne A

This book is about Shane, a man with a troubled past. While helping a town out of trouble, he is able to let go of his past.

The best part of the book was when Shane and Joe Starrett, the father of the family Shane was
staying with, let out their frustration on a huge stump by chopping the roots and removing the stump from the ground. The incident that occurred at the same time with Mrs. Starrett's pie is quite humorous.

My rating is: - I didn't want it to end!

My next book is: "The Robe" by Lloyd C. Douglas

Love's Long Journey (Janette Oke)

Comments By: Beth A

This book tells of the journey West of Willie and Missie LaHaye. Throughout their journey West, they encounter many hardships, such as rain storms, and swollen rivers. When Willie has to go on to the ranch to prepare for the winter and Missie is left in the town of Tetsford Junction, she misses Willie greatly. Upon Willie's unexpected visit, Missie has a surprise for him. I absolutely loved this book. It was my favourite book of the "Love Comes Softly" series.

The best thing about this book was that it was totally believable. Nothing occurred that you wouldn't expect to find in real life at that time period. I also enjoyed the humour that was added through the character of Mrs. Taylorson on occasion. Her "Twelve Rules" for boarders was her best humourous addition. Overall, the whole book was good, and there weren't any parts that were boring; the story drags you in so that you almost think you're really there!

My rating is: - I didn't want it to end!

My new: "The Matchmakers" by Janette Oke

Uglies (Stan Westerfeld)

Comments by: Colleen W

This book is based in the future and in the future when you turn 16 you have to go and get a surgery done to make you pretty. Tally is very excited about the surgery until she meets Shay who doesn't want to have the surgery done. The week before Shay's 16 birthday Shay runs away to a place called the Smoke, where everyone is "ugly". Tally has to either betray her friend and bring her back or Tally has to stay ugly forever.

This book is kind of confusing in the beginning but if you continue on this book is very good. The best part about this book is the description and the originality of the plot. I didn't want it to end! I also didn't have to because this is a trilogy. (1st-Uglies, 2nd-Pretties, 3rd-Specials) I have read the first 2 books and want to read the last one very badly!

Scribbler of dreams (Mary E. Pearson)

comments by: Maggie B.

This is an amazing novel in which a young girl named Kaitlyn - an artist, keeping to herself and confiding in her journal after her father is accused of murdering another man who is part of the Crutchfield family, who the Malones have had a feud with for as long as young Kait can remember. But what shocks the heroine is that even after tradgedy, she can still learn to love and trust some one she does not know well, and what shocks her is that the young man she has fallen for is Bram Crutchfield - son of the man that was believed to be killed by Mr.Malone. This story is one of Love, Hate, Forgiving, Forgetting and most importantly, one of trust. It is a modern "Romeo and Juliet". The outcome of this novel will not shock you, but you will be left feeling joyful and satisfied. I didn't want it to end.

The best part of this book for me was the end, when the two main characters learn the true meaning of love, and how it means that even despite what has happened between their parents, they have the power to change everything, and end this ridiculous arguement.

My rating is: - I didn't want it to end!
