The Darksword Trilogy: Forging The Darksword (Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman)

Reviewed by Adrien

"Forging The Darksword" is the first book of the "Darksword Trilogy". It was written by the same authors of the famous Dragonlance trilogy, if you don't know this series ask your parents about it, pretty much everyone who was a teen and a fantasy addict in the eighties read it. You might want to check it out. The Darksword trilogy is set in a realm named "Merilon", a world of, well lets call them hollistic mages, "all" hollistic mages. A world where you are punished for using your own hands to do a simple task instead of using magic, and therefore the unlucky humans who are born without magical abilities, (in the series they are named "Dead"), are sentenced to a horrible death, which, in the eyes of the general public and athoritative figures, is better than being a "dead" man/woman walking. This series tells the story of one such person who escaped their fate as a babe. Who grows up to go on a quest of vengence against Merilon's athoritative figure's, with the help of several interesting, intense and sometimes ridiculous secondary characters. A story full of suspense, wonder, action and suprisingly, comedy. I loved it.

have to say that the best thing about this book is the clash of personalities between characters, it makes for suprising turn of events, very suprising. The worst thing about this book is that you have a great amount of trouble figuring out peoples intentions, but that's not very bad, now is it?

My Rating is:  I didn't want it to end!

My New/Next Book is:  The Darksword Trilogy: Doom Of The Darksword
